    Dear Mr. Fossella Sr.,

I am a member of the Friends for Rape Relief. We are a group who raise funds for the Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Shelter. We are having our annual Walk for Rape Relief on Sunday, May 29 at Stanley Park.

Funding for women’s services and advocacy is presently inadequate, so community support is critically needed to shelter women and their children who are escaping male violence and to maintain a 24-hour rape crisis line.

We are especially interested in having more men participate in our fund-raising efforts, so please think of men you could ask to join us. The Walk is a great introduction to the essential work we do in the community.

It will finish with talented local entertainment and a delicious free outdoor picnic. Donation sheets can be downloaded from the rapereliefshelter.bc.ca website. You can also find Walk poster there to print and distribute. Those who can’t come on the 29th can still collect donations and mail them in with their sheet. Income tax receipts will be issued promptly.

Since you are active in the non-vioIence movement would you know of any people who might be willing to participate in this project? I know you realize how invaluable our work is and how grateful we would be for your referrals.

    Sincerely,

    Marv Wheale
On Behalf of Friends of Rape Relief
